Bien of Sauti Sol says Koffi deserves the Ksh 23 million he got paid

Singer Bien Baraza of Sauti Sol is not siding with fellow Kenyans who are up in arms after veteran Lingala singer, Koffi Olomide, got a cool Ksh 23 million from Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to perform in a devolution conference.

On social media, Bien hummed a different tune insisting that the 61-year-old Congolese musician, who Kenyans apparently hate after his ugly incident at JKIA a few years ago, deserves every penny he’s getting from Kenya.

“Koffi deserves that kind of money,” Bein, who belongs to a band which has been labeled as the highest paid artists in the country, said on social media sparking outrage from his fans. “Koffi has done everything we have never done including entertaining three generations. Good for Koffi. This man has 20 albums.”

Kenyans once loved Koffi but it now seems things took a drastic change after he was caught on camera kicking one of his female dancers at JKIA which then led to his deportation.

Bein, however, might have a point.

Koffi, whose career spans over 5 decades, has several multiplatinum albums and has mentored several successful artists such as Fele Mudogo, Sam Tshintu, Suzuki 4×4, Soleil Wanga, Bouro Mpela, Fally Ipupa, Montana Kamenga and Ferre Gola.
