UNHEALTHY DAILY HABITS THAT ARE KILLING YOU SLOWLY

Written by on February 7, 2020

As much as death is inevitable, why speed up the process with small habits that are harmful to your health?

Due to life’s rat race we tend to adapt various habits in our routine mostly due to the desire to achieve certain goals. We compromise on certain things unaware of the dangers they cause on our health.

Not drinking enough water during the day is the reason why you’re not energized and are low in moods. Staying hydrated is one of the most important things to do everyday to stay healthy. It not only keeps your body energized, memory sharp  and  stabilizes your mood, it also helps your skin stay clear and youthful. Lack of enough water in your body is the reason why you have headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, muscle cramps, sleeplessness and in serious cases, high blood pressure and kidney stones.

You should also avoid eating dinner or snacking late at night. This is one of the main reasons you’re always tired in the morning. Late night snacking shortens your digestion period and at times indigestion. When you make eating late at night a habit, you stand the risk of heart disease and kidney disease due to the rise of cholesterol in your body.

With almost every task made easier nowadays such as; cars, microwaves, computers etc, it’s becoming harder and harder to exercise. You have to be intentional about it. I know not everyone wants to join the gym and become a fitness junkie but you have to find ways to exercise your body everyday.  Choosing to walk instead of driving to a destination or going for a jog in your neighbourhood goes a long way in keeping you healthy. Physical exercise keeps your heart healthy and lowers your risk of diseases such as breast and prostate cancer.

We have all skipped on sleep from time to time, mostly because of busy schedules; so much to do and so little time or at times from celebrations during the holidays, that when ‘sleep’ becomes a rumor. When this becomes a habit, it’s a danger to your health. When you don’t get enough sleep it compromises on your judgement and ability to make decisions. Lack of sleep also damages your immune system making you prone to many diseases especially depression.

Changing your unhealthy daily patterns will save you trips to the hospital as well as aid you to live longer in life.
