Beyoncé most politically divisive celebrity in the US

Beyoncé is the most politically divisive celebrity in US according to a new poll.

The “Formation” singer — who supported Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the 2016 White House race and delivered a politically charged Super Bowl halftime show that same year — divides Democrats and Republicans more sharply than does conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh, fellow Clinton surrogate and singer Katy Perry or daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, according to Morning Consult’s findings released Monday.

With midterm elections on the horizon, Morning Consult surveyed more than 6,000 Americans to discover which celebrities cause the largest divide between Democrats and Republicans.

The report also used Forbes’ list of the 100 highest-paid entertainers in 2018 to gauge public opinion of each celebrity.

Beyonce is joined by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, who garnered more favorable Republican perceptions, as well as a host of other celebrities, including LeBron James, Jay-Z, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga.

Of the survey’s 25 most divisive celebrities, only two, Hannity and Limbaugh, polled higher among Republicans than Democrats.

The survey polled 6,609 adults in the United States last month about a variety of famous names, including rappers Drake and Nas, country music singers Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, comedian Dave Chappelle, and Lady Gaga, among others. The poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
