Cardi B, Janet Jackson, The Weekend set to honor Mandela

Fast rising American rapper Cardi B is set to perform at the e2018 Global Citizen festival scheduled for September 29. Cardi B will perform alongside the legendary Janet Jackson, Janelle Monae, The Weekend, John Legend and young pop star Shawn Mendes.

The festival which will be held at the Central Park, New York City aims at advocating for the preservation of international aid to eradicate extreme poverty. This year’s festival is expected to attract over 60,000 people and call on governments to add more emphasis on the fight against early marriages, end the use of plastics and to improve maternal health.

Global Citizen’s CEO, Hugh Evans thanks the partners and the artists for the incredible support.

The evet will happen simultaneously with the UN General Assembly meetings. The Iconic anti-apartheid leader will be feted as the world celebrates the ‘Mandela 100’-to mark the centennial of the birth of the legend.

The worlds dynamic duo and power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé will headline a concert in Johannesburg on December 2 which Global Citizen is planning to broaden its global reach.
