After a two-year hiatus, Kenyan pop group Elani looks all set for a major comeback if the recent posts on their social media pages is anything to go by.

The group, that is made up of Wambui Ngugi, Bryan Chweya and Maureen Kunga, took a break in 2016 while citing underpaid royalties as the reason why they had not released any new music.

Elani, who enjoyed success in 2014 thanks to their songs; Milele, Kookoo and Jana Usiku, faulted a local music body claiming they were broke because they were just getting a small fraction of their money.

As such, they could not get into the studio to work on new music since the royalties that they were receiving and the money that they made from performances could hardly support their day-to-day needs.

Later that year, they released a song with Uganda’s Jose Chameleone and little was heard about the group until 2017 when word went round that they would release a new album two days before the elections. But that didn’t happen.

Just when most of us had started to think that the group was dead and gone, Elani put up a post on their Instagram page announcing their upcoming album dubbed “Colours of Love”.

In the video, the group revealed that the first single off the album will be released on 8th, August 2018 and that soon they will drop singles in succession. The announcement was welcomed by fans who could not hide their joy.
