EMINEM CRITICIZED AFTER USING GUN SHOT EFFECTS IN HIS PERFORMANCE

Written by on September 20, 2018

Rapper Eminem has been criticized for using a sound effect which sounded like gunfire during Bonnaroo music festival. The effect, which has caused trauma among his fans who have come out to label him as irresponsible after watching a video that has been doing rounds on social media and has fans ducking in fear after hearing the sound, came just when the 45-year-old rapper was performing yet another controversial song.

On Saturday night, Eminem — one of several performers during the Bonnaroo music and arts festival in Tennessee — had performed the 2000 song “Kill You” when the loud sounds rang out.

In a statement to CNN, his spokesman said the effect was not a gunshot effect as many were quick to call it.

“Contrary to inaccurate reports, Eminem does not use gunshot sound effects during his live show. The effect used by Eminem in his set at Bonnaroo was a pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom.” he said.  “He has used this effect — as have hundreds other artists — in his live show for over 10 years, including previous US festival dates in 2018 without complaint.”

Fans have been on the edge in some of these performances of late and it’s clearly understandable why the loud sound was not taken well. A recent mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 58 people dead is still fresh in many people’s mind.
