Morgan Freeman’s lawyer stresses CNN should delete article on harassment allegations

Veteran actor Morgan Freeman has insisted that the sexual harassment allegations on him are not true. The 80-year-old actor, through his lawyer, demanded Tuesday that CNN should retract a story they published accusing him of multiple cases of sexual harassment.

“We presented CNN with objective evidence, including videotapes and on-the-record denials by the claimed ‘victims,’ that the alleged incident that gave rise to the story never happened,” lawyer Robert Schwartz said in a statement.

Freeman has been a trending topic for the better part of last week after sixteen women recounted to CNN of troubling behavior by Freeman on production sets or promotional tours.

A video of compilation of the same has also been doing rounds online forcing the popular actor to make a quick apology.

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy,” Freeman said in a statement.

“I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

The CNN article, which was written by Chloe Melas, was labeled as biased since it was prompted by her own encounter with Freeman. She was six-months pregnant then.

She said that during a press conference for the 2017 movie “Going in Style,” Freeman looked her up and down and said “Boy, I wish I was in there.”

“I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday’s media reports,” said Freeman.

Freeman’s lawyers said that Melas’s reporting on the story that she was part of made her biased from the start.

“As a supposed victim of the article’s subject, Ms. Melas lacked the requisite impartiality and objectivity to fairly cover the story she was chasing,” said the letter.

“Under those circumstances, CNN should not have allowed her to write it.”
