Vybz Kartel quotes Mzee Jomo Kenyatta

Jamaican dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer might be in jail but not much has changed. He’s still putting out new music and entertaining fans even when behind bars.

Kartel, who’s currently in jail updated his Instagram bio with a quote by Jomo stating, “There will be nothing from Heaven. We must all work…to save ourselves from poverty, ignorance, and disease.”

The quote is from Jomo’s Independence Day message to Kenyans pointing out that despite attaining freedom, the citizens would have to work hard for the nation’s prosperity.

The late Head of State said:

“Many people may think that now there is Uhuru now I can see the sun of freedom shining, richness will pour down like manna from heaven. I tell you there will be nothing from heaven! We must all work hard, with our hands, to save ourselves from poverty, ignorance, and disease. If we respect ourselves and our Uhuru, foreign investment will pour in and we will prosper.”
