Vinicius Junior the 22 year old winger from Real Madrid was subjected to racial abuse in the Mestalla Stadium as Valencia hosted Real Madrid.

The fans from the Mario Kempes Stand were heard chanting mono which means monkey. Some people are arguing that it isn’t clear whether they were chanting tonto which means idiot. This was after Vinicius allegedly slapped Hugo Duro which led to Vinicius ending up with a red card at the seventy third minute as VAR saw that it was appropriate. This scuffle saw Vinicius being on the receiving end as he was the only one who was disciplined with a red card. Vinicius was seen in tears due to the chants from the fans.

A sigh of relief can be heard from the Real Madrid winger as The Spanish F.A has rescinded the red card given to Vinicius and also fired six official due to that incident including Iglesias Villanueva who was the head of the VAR team who reviewed the red card given to Vinicius. Valencia has also been fined £40,000 and the Mario Kempes Stand has been closed for five matches as a disciplinary action to what transpired to Vinicius.

This isn’t the first time this has happened  as Vinicius tweeted “It’s not the first, second or third racism that is normal in La Liga. The competition thinks it’s normal, the federation does too and the opponent’s encourage it. I’m so sorry. The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi today belongs to Racists. A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and which I love but which agreed to export the image of a racist country to the world. I’m sorry for the Spaniards who don’t agree but today , In Brazil Spain is known as a country of racists and unfortunately for everything”

Carlo Ancelotti condemned the unacceptable abuse that Vinicius received. Ancelotti said “I don’t think that he’ll leave as he loves football and he loves Real Madrid. His love for the club is great and wants to have his career here. He has not lost hope, no. We will see the suspension he receives, and we will evaluate giving him more or a few days of rest.”

Vinicius has been a crucial part of Real Madrid as he has since he joined back in 2018 from Flamengo. He has contributed to 64 assists and 59 goals in 224 appearances making them winning nine  trophies ;two La Liga titles, one Champions League and one Copa del Rey.
