WHAT DO YOUR SHOES COMMUNICATE?

What is the first thing people notice about you?…  The answer is, Your Shoes!

Believe it or not, your shoes alone are able to communicate your age, gender, personality and most
importantly, your social status.

In terms of personalities, extroverts are said to have worn out shoes, they could be designer shoes due
to their need to stand out but they will be worn out due to their carefree nature. Introverts however tend to avoid bright colored shoes that attract attention from people.

Your age can be known by the design of shoes you wear. It is said that people who are always in the trendy new shoes tend to be younger or more youthful in age, however, the older generation tend to have found a style that works for them and are sure to stick to it even in a wide range of  shoe designs.

Whilst meeting people who do not know you well or potential employers’ they most times make conclusions of who you are by unconsciously looking at your shoes.  People who wear old shoes that have been well taken care of tend to stick out in a crowd because it translates that they are meticulous and
dedicated.

It is obvious that certain type of shoes are made for certain genders but in the times we are in, it is
easier to spot individuals that identify as certain genders by the shoes they wear. This helps you to
address someone as they so desire. For instance, women who wear sneakers a lot are identified as tomb-boys due to their playful, free and adventurous nature.

The more expensive or inexpensive your shoes is, the more you communicate your social status. People
from a high social status tend to not be frugal when it comes to buying shoes. They may buy one shoe
that costs a fortune as opposed to those from a lower social status that have a habit of buying many shoes at lower cost which normally do not last long.

With this in mind, think more cautiously about what you want to communicate the next time you go
shoe shopping.
