Chris Brown released on £5 million bail.

Global R\&B sensation Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court after being hit with serious charges over what prosecutors described as an “unprovoked attack” at a high-profile nightclub in 2023.

The 36-year-old Grammy-winning artist, known for chart-toppers like *Loyal* and *Under the Influence*, was arrested in Salford last Thursday and charged with grievous bodily harm.

Authorities allege Brown assaulted a music producer with a tequila bottle during a late-night altercation at Tape, a swanky nightclub in London’s Mayfair district.

Though he didn’t appear in person for Wednesday’s bail hearing at Southwark Crown Court, the judge laid down a hefty condition: Brown must post a jaw-dropping £5 million in bail—£4 million up front, with the remaining £1 million due in a week.

The “Loyal” hitmaker  had initially been denied bail, spending several days behind bars before the court relented.

The decision comes just in time for his world tour, which kicks off in Amsterdam on 8 June and includes major shows in Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow.

However, freedom comes with strings attached.

Judge Tony Baumgartner ordered that Brown surrender his passport whenever he’s not actively touring.

He’s also banned from contacting the alleged victim, stepping foot inside the Tape nightclub, or applying for new international travel documents.

Other bail conditions include residing at an approved address and adhering strictly to the court’s travel restrictions.

Brown isn’t facing the charges alone.

He’ll return to court on 20 June alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu—better known as rapper *HoodyBaby*.

The 38-year-old, also from the U.S., is accused of being involved in the same incident.

Whether this legal drama will cast a shadow over Brown’s European tour remains to be seen but for now, the show goes on.
