CS Oparanya kickstarts the 2nd Kenya Buildcon Expo.

The 2nd Kenya Buildcon International Expo and the inaugural Kenya Wood International Expo commenced today at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi.

Running from June 12 to June 14, 2025, these concurrent expos are set to be pivotal events in East Africa’s building, construction, and woodworking.

The expo features a diverse range of exhibitors, including international and local companies, showcasing innovative products and services.

As the premier international trade exhibition for the building and construction industry in Kenya, the Kenya Buildcon Expo 2025 showcases a comprehensive array of machinery, tools, materials, architecture, interiors, engineering, manufacturing, and allied products and services.

 

The event serves as a key platform for industry professionals, businesses, and stakeholders to explore the latest trends, innovations, and opportunities in the construction sector. 

The Expo had a number of government officials and Indian investors . 

Those in attendance included the Deputy Governor of Kiambu county H. E. Rosemary Njeri Kirika, RAK official Hon. Sonvir Singh Ji ,Kenya Investment Authority Mr 

John Mwendwa, Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MTI) Dr. Juma Mukhwana, Cabinet Secretary, Min. of Co-Operative & MSMEs Development

Hon. FCPA Dr. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, the Director, Futurex Group

Mr. Namit Gupta and Winnie Ngumi, Chairperson, KENHA.

The event was officially kick started by the Cabinet Secretary, Min. of Co-Operative & MSMEs Development Hon. FCPA Dr. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya.

 

CS Oparanya encouraged partnerships between Kenya and India urging investors to choose Kenya as their home for manufacturing and infrastructure. 

“We welcome long term partnerships be it in manufacturing, technology sharing or infrastructure development that align with our mutual growth.”

He added that the Expo was more than an exhibition, it was an opportunity for Kenya to grow together with various investors. 

“The International Trade Expo 2025 is more than an exhibition; it is a declaration of intel and a collective statement that we are ready to build smarter, power greener and grow together.

Let us form partnerships that will shape Kenya’s future and uplift our people.”

Dr. Juma Mukhwana encouraged investors to bring their raw materials to Kenya since they would be duty free.

“ If you set up a manufacturing plant here we will allow you to bring your raw materials here duty free. But if it’s an intermittent product one would be charged 10% and if it’s a finished product the cost will be 35%.”

The Trade minister emphasised that the investors should seek to employ Kenyan youths in their manufacturing plants.
