THE EFFEVERSCENT KAMENE GORO

I met Kamene at the recently concluded #NRGTurnUpMacha for the very first time. She’s a very gorgeous woman who exudes a calm confidence about her and an aura of strength and grace. I really wanted to speak to her but I took my time to observe her first. While on the ride to KFC Mombasa Road Drive Thru for our meal, I noticed she was part of the team that kept the party bus alive and fun with all kinds of sing along and dancing moments. And she had fun while at it; not the plastic kind but real fun.

Eventually, we got to talking. She’s actually a conversation starter, which is perfect for her morning show #NRGBreakfastClub with Kibe. She starts a conversation, he reacts to it and the rest fall like dominoes. We spoke about a variety of topics but my key learnings throughout our many conversations in the course of the night are:

1. Her strength and grace come from deep within.

2. Kamene is a fun loving yet careful woman, who always creates and builds trust with the people around her.

3. She is a woman who cannot be put in a box. Not your average woman.

4. I highly doubt Kamene ever feels cold.

5. Beneath all that beauty, strength and grace lies a brilliant mind that is hungry for knowledge.

In as much as we met in an environment where intoxicants were involved, there was no single moment where I sensed a change in character with Kamene. People tend to become their “alter egos” when under the influence but she was herself throughout – a quality I haven’t seen in many people in my lifetime. She feels like warm sunshine and a cold bottle of Fanta Orange on a hot day. Yes, she’s a well put together, calm human being and most likely a key reason as to why #NRGBreakfastClub listeners stay tuned in. She is the voice of reason to Kibe’s mad rants.
