Why should you read more often?

In the world today everything is digital now, the videos are getting shorter with TikTok and other social media platforms in that we are all used to getting information fast and in a minute or less.
This has lead to a lack of reading culture. Articles are getting shorter and books are not leaving the book shelves.
Strengthens your brain activity:
Doctors have mentioned that through research and MRI scans that reading strengthens a network of circuits and signals in the brain making them more sharp and sophisticated than the average person.
The ‘theory of mind’ ability:
Individuals who read especially fictional books develop a part of the brain that is extra sensitive due to the connection with characters in the book. This increases social skills and the ability to connect with others on their beliefs and feelings. This ability is what is known as ‘theory of mind’ ability.
Great vocabulary skills:
It’s well known that kids who grow up reading books have exceptional vocabulary which eventually helps them in adulthood. Reading gives you great communication skills and aids you in fully expressing yourself well. This people always end up in leadership positions.
Reduces stress and depression:
Just like yoga, meditation and exercise; reading a good book can help you relax and reduce stress levels. Statistics have even shown that people who read are said to live longer than the average person.
Symptoms of depression can make you feel alone and alienated but reading a good book helps you escape to another world as well as self help books give you strategies to apply in your life to aid in certain areas of your life.

Pick a book of your liking today in terms of genre and help better your brain and health as well. A book a day rises you above the average man.
