Kenya dominates at the World Travel Awards

The just concluded World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa and Indian Ocean took place in Durban South Africa on October 6. The award saw Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa voted the best in Africa.
The awards come in a good time the country is positioning itself as the best destination of tourism not just in Africa but in the World.This is the fifth round the country is winning the coveted award with the Diani Beach maintaining the top position in the continent.
The facility’s Managing Director Bobby Kamani said that the recognition is as a result of its cutting edge services and facilities accompanied by consistent upgrade.
”We are grateful that our efforts in upgrading our product as well as enhancing our service levels have been recognised by clients who have voted for us,” Kamani said.
One of the competitive advantage the resort has is the biggest conference facility in the region that puts them above the rest of the hospitality facilities.
” In addition, a state of the art of conference facility which is the largest has also been an added benefit to conference delegates visiting the region,” he added.
Other companies that were rewarded in the awards include Africa’s Pride, Kenya Airways which was awarded as the best airline in Africa for its exemplary services in the business and economy classes.
Maasai Mara game reserve was named as the leading in Africa while Ol Pajeta conservancy was recognized as well for its conservatory efforts.
Africa’s leading business travel agency Award went to Satguru Travel and Tourism as the top award of Africa’s leading tour operator was conferred on Pollmans Tours and Safaris while Bonfire Adventure was named Africa’s leading travel agency.
Villa Rosa Kempinski emerged as the most luxurious hotel while Aberdare County Club emerged as leading Green Hotel. Africa’s leading hotel award was scooped by Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club.
Palacina The Residence and Suites was feted as leading hotel residence while Olare Mara Kempiski was voted as the leading luxury tented camp.
