Janet Jackson has snagged a myriad accolades in the last few months among them the Icon Award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. If her iconic career spanning decades is anything to go by,Janet is more than deserving of the recognition. So when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came calling, it was not exactly unprecedented. Besides, she’s the latest of the Jackson clan to get inducted into the legendary museum, after Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5.
On the flip side,Janet Jackson declined a performance at the Barclays Centre-held ceremony. This is heavily speculated to have been prompted by the fact that the event was filmed for later broadcast by HBO, the cable network that aired Leaving Neverland, the documentary that unearthed allegations by two men Wade Robson and James Safechuck-who were children at the time-of sexual abuse by Michael Jackson.
Artistes are eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame 25 years after their debut album or single.
