Stranded Mombasa boy who scored 400 in KCPE gets help.

There could be light at the end of the tunnel as a Mombasa boy who scored 400 marks in the 2023 KCPE exam gets funding.

The boy lives with his widowed mother who could not raise fees to take him to secondary school.

Clinton Wityukha, 14, had secured a spot at St George’s High School in Kaloleni, Kilifi county.

He can now continue pursuing his dream of being a lawyer after a well-wisher emerged, promising to take him through secondary school after one Kenyan newspaper highlighted his plight.

A team from Mombasa Cement Limited on Saturday visited Clinton and his mother Eunice Khadiav’s house in Junda, Mshomoroni, to deliver the good news.

“We saw on the media that this boy has scored quite impressive marks in KCPE. 400 marks out of 500 is not a joke. It made us happy,” head of the team Imtiaz Sayani said.

Mombasa Cement has a programme that helps pay school fees for bright but needy students from the Coast.

Sayani said they will ensure Clinton goes to St George’s High School and make his life there as comfortable as possible.

“We will make sure that Clinton studies until the end because these young people will grow to be our leaders in different sectors,” he said.

On Saturday, Clinton’s mother could not hide her joy after the well-wishers visited her home.

“I have nothing to give or say other than to thank Mombasa Cement for this gesture. I also thank the media for highlighting my plight. God bless journalists and nobody should disrespect the media. They take people far,” Khadiav said.

In a statistics report that was done yesterday, it was discovered that more than 120,000 students who sat for the 2023 KCPE exams have not had the opportunity to join high school.
