Tata Wekesa makes history for the longest science class teaching for 62 hours.

Kenyan teacher Rose Tata Wekesa made history by completing the Guinness world record challenge for the longest continuous science class ever, lasting 62 hours, 33 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Wekesa a teacher at St Austin Academy Lavingtone, broke the record much to the jubilation of her students and colleagues who had gathered at the university to witness the historic moment. 

Her awe-inspiring achievement unfolded at the teaching marathon at the Multimedia University of Kenya saw her etch her name in the books of history where she tirelessly worked to conquer sleep and fatigue to achieve the glint victory.

Earlier on Rose had shared on her social media a post that went viral about her attempt to set the Guinness Book of Records by teaching the longest science lesson.

“The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step,” she begins in a video explaining her reasons.

“My name is Rose Tata Wekesa a teacher of Science. from Nairobi Kenya. I will be attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest science lesson by an individual,” she continues.

“In this attempt, I will be teaching science subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, for a minimum of 50 hours nonstop. I am doing this to inspire the world that Sciences are indeed doable. I am also doing this to display that teaching is a noble career and that teachers should be highly esteemed. This is a nonprofit-making venture.” she had divulged in her announcement to attempt to break the record video.

A similar fate achieved in the field of science in the past included the largest science lesson record set back in 2014, where 1339 students participated. 

In 2020, British science teacher Neil Monteiro set a new Guinness World Record for most participants in a virtual science lesson with 16066 attendees.

The Guinness World Records is yet to ratify Wekesa’s achievements, documents the best achievements in the world, with strict policies governing what constitutes a record title.
