Mauricio Pochettino leaves Chelsea with no cup.

Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino have decided to part ways at the end of the Premier League season, after only one season of the Argentine manager’s initial two-year contract.

The decision was made after Pochettino met with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali.

Pochettino leaves Chelsea by mutual consent

Pochettino’s time at Chelsea only lasted one year, despite signing a two-year contract the previous summer.

The team had mixed results, finishing the season with five consecutive wins that secured European qualification, but still falling short of pre-season expectations.

Although he led the team to the final of the Carabao Cup and the semi-final of the FA Cup, they were unable to secure a win in either competition.

Throughout the season, a long list of injuries and inconsistent performances from both young and senior players contributed to a below-par season for the Blues.

As a result, Pochettino left the club at the end of the season.

Chelsea search for sixth manager in two seasons

According to reports from The Telegraph, Chelsea will now begin their search for a young and progressive replacement for Pochettino.

Potential candidates include Sebastian Hoeness from Stuttgart, Michel from Girona, Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town, and Enzo Maresca from Leicester City.

The departure of Mauricio Pochettino continues the trend of managerial changes at Chelsea since the Clearlake Capital-Boehly group took over.

Pochettino’s exit means that five managers have overseen the team in the past two years, including interim stints by Bruno Saltor and Frank Lampard.
