Manchester United risks ban from Europa League.

Premier League giants Manchester United may face a ban from next season’s Europa League due to UEFA’s rule on multi-club ownership. 

The Glazers are the majority shareholders in Manchester United, but Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS also owns a significant portion of the shares. 

INEOS also owns Ligue 1 side Nice, which has raised concerns about UEFA’s rule on multi-club ownership.

The Red Devils and Nice’s problem.

Both Nice and Manchester United have qualified for next season’s Europa League, and since they both have INEOS as a common owner, UEFA’s regulations come into play. 

According to UEFA rules, two clubs with the same owner cannot participate in the same European competition.

INEOS has addressed the issue, stating, “We are aware of the position of the two clubs and we are in direct dialogue with UEFA.  We are convinced that we have a solution for next season in Europe.” 

According to reports from The Sun, negotiations have taken place, and INEOS has reportedly reached an agreement with UEFA. 

It is understood that both teams will bypass the rule, as INEOS owns less than 30% of Manchester United, which is the threshold for when UEFA’s rule is triggered.
