The High Court in Malindi has issued temporary orders prohibiting security agencies from using water cannons, tear gas, live ammunition, rubber bullets, or any other forms of violence against individuals protesting the Finance Bill, 2024.
This decision was made by Justice Mugure Thande, who emphasised that the police should refrain from employing any form of violence until the case filed by former Azimio leader Saitabao Ole Kanchory is resolved.
Additionally, the judge issued an order preventing the Inspector General of Police and the Cabinet Secretary for Interior from engaging in extrajudicial killings, arrests, abductions, intimidation, torture, or any cruel and degrading treatment of protestors.
