No partnership with Birdman! Safaricom fiercely responds.

Birdman caused a stir among Kenyans when photos showed him at a Safaricom shop, leading many to believe he had signed a brand deal with the telecom giant.

However, Safaricom quickly put the rumours to rest after being tagged in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Rodgers Kipembe Mpuru.

In the photos, Birdman was seen seated at a desk with a Safaricom employee, papers, and two phones in front of him, which created the impression that he had secured a significant deal.

The video was initially shared on TikTok by user Martha Kimondo, prompting Kenyans to congratulate Birdman on what they thought was a major achievement.

The company clarified that Birdman was at the shop merely to replace his line and not to sign an advertising contract.

The humorous response from Safaricom read, “Hi @RodgersKipembe. Wacha jokes, he was at the Safaricom Shop to replace his line, not to sign an advertisement contract.”

“Birdman pens an advertising gig with Safaricom,” the company replied, “Hi @RodgersKipembe. Wacha jokes, he was at the Safaricom Shop to replace his line, not to sign an advertisement contract.”

Birdman recently appeared in an interview with Citizen TV Kenya, where he opened up about his struggles living on the streets and impressed viewers with his academic qualifications.
