In a thrilling Premier League clash at Old Trafford, Manchester United faced off against Brighton & Hove Albion, a fixture that promised excitement and delivered it in spades.
United, desperate to bounce back from recent disappointments, came into the match with something to prove.
However, it was Brighton who once again showed why they are one of the most exciting teams in the league.
The game started at a frantic pace, with United pressing high and Brighton, as always, comfortable in possession.
Early on, the Seagulls showed their attacking intent, carving out a couple of half-chances that tested United’s defence.
It wasn’t long before Brighton broke the deadlock.
A swift counter-attack saw Kaoru Mitoma surge down the left flank, delivering a perfect cross to Solly March, who coolly slotted home past André Onana, silencing the Old Trafford crowd.
United responded with intensity. Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen were at the heart of every attack, threading passes and creating opportunities.
Marcus Rashford, leading the line, was a constant threat, forcing a fine save from Jason Steele. Despite their efforts, United couldn’t find the equaliser before halftime.
The second half saw United throwing everything at Brighton, with Erik ten Hag bringing on Rasmus Højlund for a more direct approach.
Højlund had the ball in the net, only for VAR to rule it out for offside. United’s frustration grew as they continued to pile on the pressure but failed to break down Brighton’s resolute defense.
In the end, it was Brighton’s day. A late goal from João Pedro sealed a 2-1 victory, capping off a superb performance.
For United, it was a game of missed chances and tactical lessons, while Brighton celebrated another famous win at Old Trafford.
