The first daughter, Charlene Ruto, is currently in New York as part of a Kenyan delegation attending the 79th UN General Assembly meeting.

She has been sharing photos and a video of herself walking around New York, blowing kisses at the camera.

For her outing, she wore a burnt orange skirt, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a grey coat, with her hair styled in braids held up in three buns, and carried a black handbag.

Charlene expressed her joy, saying, “Today…I walked into The Future…” while playing the background music from Alicia Keys’s Empire State of Mind, a song about hope and possibility in New York.

Charlene also addressed a gathering on Monday, September 23. She is in New York as part of the Summit of the Future 2024, representing her organisation, Smart Mechanized Agriculture & Climate Action for Humanity & Sustainability (SMACHS Foundation).

“Allow me to welcome you to Kenya, we have beautiful beaches, we are the only country where our National Park is in the Capital City, and we have swimming lions. So come and experience it for yourself. I think it was only right and a good coincidence that I came to speak after the amazing young people who have spoken and because I dont have time to share all the work I do with young people, allow me to share my website”

Charlene as well shared pictures with the individuals who spoke, and whose work she is impressed with.

“Spent a powerful day cheering on my sister, Ambassador @Lynette_mwende, at the United Nations Summit of the Future Action event, where she delivered a brilliant keynote address at the China Pavilion.

I’m inspired by her message and the innovations shared by young people under 16 years of age from China, whose work is paving the way for a better future. I strongly believe it is crucial for us to support each other as young people and build each other up. Congratulations to all the young innovators – keep up the amazing work.” read her congratulatory message to them.
