Kimani Mbugua’s father has released a statement asserting that his son is not being forcefully kept in the rehabilitation centre where he is receiving treatment, despite claims made in a viral video.
According to Kimani’s father, his son has not fully recovered, which is why they have not authorised his release.
Addressing his son’s pleas, Kimani’s father stated, “I’m the dad, and I love him…sijamfunga..”
He explained that although Kimani’s condition has improved, he is not yet able to leave on his own, and there is still significant work to be done in his recovery.
“Kule tutamtoa vile tulienda na yeye, hawezi toka pekee yake. So, Kimani my son, and my great friend cool down, cool down. I’m your director. As the dad, I know him…I know when he’s on this hill, if we don’t take care he may think positively but then do something negative,” the journalist’s dad said during an interview with YouTuber Vikie Vikinah.
A day ago, the former Citizen TV journalist had pleaded for his release from a medical facility where he has been undergoing treatment. Mbugua urged an unnamed authority to allow him to leave, stating he feels fully recovered.
“Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask whoever is responsible for my release to please let me go. My mom and dad came here two months ago and told me it’s not up to them,” he said, explaining that he was cleared for discharge over a month ago.
“I was discharged on September 25, but I’m still being held here. I just want to go back to building my business. Please, whoever is responsible for my freedom, just give it to me. I did nothing wrong. I manage my illness as best as I can; sometimes I fail, sometimes I succeed,” the journalist had shared at the time.
