Arsenal had to settle for just one point during their trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Gabriel Martinelli was the only player from Arsenal to score, delivering an impressive strike. However, Pedro Neto quickly equalised for Chelsea shortly after the hour mark.
Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea could find another goal, and Leandro Trossard missed a crucial opportunity in the final seconds of the match, sending his shot wide and denying Arsenal a win..
In addition to the scoreline, manager Mikel Arteta faced other challenges as both Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice were forced to leave the game early.
Saka limped off the pitch following a collision with Marc Cucurella, while Rice was substituted for Mikel Merino after playing with a suspected foot injury.
“They [Saka and Rice] don’t look very good,” Arteta told Sky Sports after the tie in west London.”I don’t know [if it’s long-term]. They both couldn’t finish the game, so not good.
“The disappointment of not getting three points is bigger [than being satisfied] and it will probably be bigger after watching it back. I think we dominated them, we were the better team in many phases and situations in the game and after going ahead, very disappointed in the way we conceded. It was so poor. It is not our standards and we don’t accept.”
Arsenal are set to face Nottingham Forest on 23 November after the international break.
