Nicki Minaj faces lawsuit from former manager.

Barbie Dreams hit maker, Nicki Minaj is facing a challenging start to the new year with potential criminal charges looming over her following a lawsuit from a man claiming to be her former manager.

The Trinidad-born rapper, actress, lyricist, and entrepreneur is being sued for alleged physical assault.

The incident in question reportedly occurred last April during one of her tours in Detroit, and prosecutors are currently evaluating the possibility of filing a formal suit.

Brandon Garrett, her former manager, alleges that Minaj assaulted him during an altercation in her dressing room after a performance.

According to multiple American online publications, Garrett claims that she became furious after discovering that he had delegated the task of picking up her prescriptions to another employee, whom he identifies as Luke Montgomery, instead of handling it himself as she had requested.

In legal documents, Garrett states that Nicki yelled at him, asking, “Are you freaking crazy having him pick up my prescription? Your life is over!”

He claims she then slapped him across the face and struck his wrists, causing his head to swing backwards and his hat to fall off.

Fearing for his safety, Garrett alleges he ran and hid in a bathroom at the venue, locking himself inside and remaining there for hours.

Following the incident, he maintains that he was left in Detroit as he was not allowed back on the tour bus to return to Chicago, forcing him to book a flight home.

He reportedly remained in his hotel room for several days afterwards because he felt fearful and traumatised.

Garrett is suing Minaj for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and he is also seeking punitive and general damages, potentially amounting to a substantial sum.

In response to the allegations, Minaj’s lawyer, Judd Burstein, has labelled the lawsuit as “false and frivolous,” stating that the artist has not been served with a formal complaint.

He emphasised, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations,” suggesting that Garrett was actually Minaj’s “ex-assistant” rather than a “former manager.”
