Aaron Hernandez’s Attorney Slams Netflix Docu’s Claims That Sexuality Prompted His Suicide

The new Netflix documentary on the life of former American football player Aaron Hernandez has been rubbished by his attorney Jose Baez. The documentary Killer Inside:The Mind of Aaron Hernandez digs deep into the downfall of the late Patriots player. The documentary seems to suggest that Hernandez committed suicide owing to his sexuality,a claim that his attorney has not taken lying down.

Speaking against the documentary,Baez had this to say: “I don’t give a damn about what some lame-ass documentary has to say about Aaron,” Baez wrote. “I knew him, they did not and while he was far from perfect, they are not even close to the truth. People have no idea how documentaries are made, the truth is usually found on the cutting room floor. These producers lied directly to my face, so I don’t expect their money-making scheme to be much better.”

The attorney further reiterated that Hernandez’s cause of suicide is Chronic Traumatic Encephalophathy (CTE),a mental condition that is highly reported in athletes and is occasioned by perpetual head injuries. It is also reported in people who grew up in domestic abusive homes and only happens years after the injuries. Given Hernandez’s career and history growing with an abusive father,Baez’s sentiments suffice.

This documentary and consequent mixed reactions come in the backdrop of claims by Aaron Hernandez’s former high school mate who intimated they had sexual relations in high school. Aaron was convicted with the murder of Odin Lloyd, his fiancee’s sister and sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2015,and was found dead in his jail cell in 2017. His demise was ruled a suicide by hanging.
