Written by on February 25, 2020

Kobe Bryant’s memorial finally happened at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles last night and it has had the whole world bawling thus far. Despite information about the memorial being public knowledge, there was scanty information as regards the performances and speeches of the night beforehand. As such,it was a profound shocker when Beyonce opened the memorial with a touching rendition of her classics XO and Halo, the latter which said was ‘one of his favorite songs.’

Beyonce and Kobe Bryant, seeing as he made a cameo in Destiny’s Child’s Bug a Boo video in 1999. Christina Aguilera also delivered an emotional rendition of Ave Maria. Both stars helped kickstart the rather sombre ambience in the building.

Tributes

Inarguably the most excruciatingly painful part of the memorial,Kobe Bryant’s widow Vanessa Bryant took the stage to deliver her tributes. She intimated that she would herald Kobe’s tribute. Exuding impeccable strength and amid intermittent sobs, she delivered both tributes hailing each of them for their outstanding love for the family and their unbreakable bond.

Other notable tributes came from legendary basketball players Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal. Luminaries from the basketball world and Hollywood A-listers were in attendance at the event that was broadcast live the world over.
