SMITH SMACKS THE SH*T OUT OF ROCK
Written by Elizabeth Nyambura on March 28, 2022
Things at the Oscars 2022 got heated when Will Smith confronted Chris Rock onstage. The comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. She looked extremely unamused! Smith was actually still kinda laughing. But seeing Pinkett Smith’s stare; Rock quipped, “That was a nice one, okay?”
Other people laughing might have been too much for Smith to handle. And then in the blink of an eye, Smith was approaching Rock- who was on stage to present the best slap of the year!
“Oh, wow! Wow. Will Smith just smacked the s–t out of me!”
Rock said as the King Richard star walked away, looking not altogether furious. Rather, he had sort of a pleased, ‘that’s-what-happens-when-you-screw-with-my-woman’ kind of expression on his face.’
To which Rock replied, “Wow, dude. It was a G.I. Jane jokes.” At which Smith reiterated, “Yes, keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth!”
“That was the greatest night in the history of television, OK!” Rock said as he proceeded to hand out an award.
Viewers were shocked by the heated exchange. Also, stars took to social media and shared their take on the altercation that transpired between Will and Chris. Trevor Noah; ‘Wtaf??????? That wasn’t scripted??????
Natasha Rothwell; ‘Never thought the La La land debacle would ever be eclipsed but here we are.’
Meanwhile others expressed disappointment in Chris and Will’s behavior; Kathy Griffin went; ‘Let me tell you something, it’s bad practice to walk on stage and physically assault a comedian. Now we all have to worry about who wants to be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theater.’
Sophia Bush posted;
‘Violence isn’t okay. Assault is never the answer. Also, this is the second time that Chris has made fun of Jada on the #Oscars stage, and tonight he went after her Alopecia. Punching down someone’s auto-immune disease is wrong. Doing so on purpose is cruel. They both need a breather.
Last year, Pinket Smith opened up on Red Table Talk about being diagnosed with Alopecia in 2018, which is an auto-immune disorder. Since then, she’s been embracing the challenges that come along with the condition and publicly displaying the baldness with confidence.
She released a video on Instagram to talk about a new patch of baldness caused by alopecia, a condition that causes drastic hair loss. The video, which has almost 2 million views.
Alopecia is a disease that develops when the body attacks its own hair follicles, which can cause hair loss anywhere on the body, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
“Look at this line right here,” Pinkett Smith, 50, said as she pointed to her scalp. “Now this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide, so I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions — but you know, mama’s going to put some rhinestones in there, and I’m going to make me a little crown.”
“My hair has been a big part of me,” she said during an episode of “Red Table Talk.’ “Taking care of my hair has been a beautiful ritual and having the choice to have hair or not. And then one day to be like, ‘Oh my God, I might not have that choice anymore!”
Peralta, who is Afro Latina came out too, “When I let my hair grow long — if it ever gets long — it’s, like, wispy,” Peralta said. “It barely covers my scalp. So I just shave it down just because I don’t want to look at it sometimes.
When people show up in their most authentic self; mostly with the celebrities, It normalizes the affected to show up with confidence.
