Mariah Carey To Get Inducted Into 2020 Songwriters Hall Of Fame

Written by on January 16, 2020

Probably one of the most (if not the most) prolific songwriters of all time,it is a well-known fact that her induction into the annual Songwriters Hall of Fame has been long overdue. While it may have taken decades until MiMi’s shrewd pen-game can get its rightful respect (read accolades) bestowed on it,it could not have been more timely. The vocal just announced that she is among this year’s honorees. What better time than now, just a few weeks after her decorated winning streak thanks to her Christmas classic All I Want For Christmas Is You breaking Guinness world records and topping the Hot 100 5 years shy to a whole 3 decades since its release!

Mariah Carey has a total of 19 number ones, the most by a solo artiste in history. The only musical act with more number one entries than her are The Beatles with 20 entries. Even more gravely profound,17 of the 19 are all self-penned! As if that is not spectacular enough, she now also goes down the history books as the only artiste in history to have a number each decade for a record four decades after the aforementioned Christmas smash stayed atop the Hot 100 throughout Christmas and well into the new year.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame honors songwriters for their contributions to music annually. Others inductees in the 2020 class include Pharrel Williams.
