Sauti Sol announces date for Sol Fest 2024.

Chiki Kuruka, Sauti Sol’s choreographer and Bien’s wife, discussed the planning and vision for Sol Fest 2024 in her interview with Mpasho’s Hannie Petra. 

She highlighted the significance of the event, despite the group’s temporary break to focus on solo projects. 

According to Chiki, Sol Fest is not just a concert but a cultural celebration of Kenyan music and artistry. 

The band’s decision to continue with Sol Fest demonstrates their commitment to their fans and the Kenyan music industry.

Chiki emphasized that the event will be elevated with top-notch performances, production quality, and choreography. 

The VIP experience on December 19 will offer an exclusive, intimate setting with personalized interactions, while the general fan show on December 21 will deliver a large-scale, energetic concert for all.

This year’s lineup, featuring Nviiri, Bensoul, Nyashinski, and Khaligraph Jones, promises to bring diverse sounds, ranging from afropop to hip-hop, ensuring that Sol Fest 2024 will be a monumental event for Kenyan music lovers.

“Sol Fest is just one of the many ventures Sauti Sol owns. They have this, Sol Generation, and others. The festival is owned by Sauti Sol, so while it’s organized by them, it’s not just a Sauti Sol concert—it’s a larger festival.”

In a separate interview with Iko Nini Podcast in March 2024, Bien, one of the band’s members, shed light on the financial success of Sol Fest.

He revealed, “After Sauti Sol did Sol Fest, ticket sales alone generated around Sh70 million, with merchandise bringing in another Sh10 million or so.

With sponsorships, the total revenue hit Sh100 million. Now, who’s going to pay me that kind of money? Even if they say I’m not worth Sh100 million because I’m not Sauti Sol, well, I’m still a quarter of Sauti Sol. So I just go about my business, controlling everything and building an entire economy around myself.”
