There is a rapid rise in single people, only a limited number of people are actually in a relationship. Ever heard of the song, Nairobi by Bensoul? Before we go on, think of the lyrics, which is the most memorable line? Right, if it’s compelling enough, leave a comment on the comments section below.

Honestly, let us get back to the main topic, if you have ever experienced a break-up you have probably gone through the following stages. I would like to base this experience on the 5 stages of grief which we all go through sub cautiously after a break-up or any sort of loss.

Denial

On this stage, you have probably just broken-up, welcome to the first 24 hours of being single, right? During this period, you still can not believe you have lost connection with someone you loved, or cherished. It is not real to you. Let me simplify this for you 1+1=1. You and your most recent partner are not even on talking terms. It is as simple as I want my space.

Anger

All of a sudden the person you loved appears to be the worst person on earth, you are angry at every mistake they made in the past. At this stage the negative traits about the relationship are the main things you remember, maybe that one time they never called back, that one time they were emotionally unavailable. In other words, the things you forgave are now what you remember about your partner. Often or not, you find yourself venting, or expressing your frustration. Everything good now seems like manipulation or with ill intentions.

Bargain

It may come as a surprise but after you get over the negative emotions, you will find yourself simping, yes I said it, you find it hard to move on without your partner. You cannot imagine your life without their presence. At this break up stage, you will find yourself asking your partner to take you back. Suddenly, them cheating on you seems so reasonable. You may probably think of how you can forgive him even without them accepting their fault. As I said you will simp to the highest level.

Depression

During your interaction with your ex, you are now fully aware of the condition. At this stage, all the emotions you have been ignoring come to the surface. You can no longer hold back tears, you realize this relationship was not meant to be. You have now cut off all the interactions with your ex. Most often or not, you will reach out to your loved ones for emotional support.

Acceptance

Whether your break up was reasonable or not, the universe has a way of making things right for you. At this stage, you are now fully aware that the break up was necessary. You have accepted to let go of the person you loved the most. At this stage, many people opt to self-love. This is the best stage to come up with a principle that will guide you to pick the next person you want to get into a relationship with.

Whether you have consciously or subconsciously gone through these stages, it’s always important to have space when you feel like a disconnect with your partner. Self-reflection and self evaluation is very important. Sometimes, you might find yourself dating the same person in the future. Will this be a nightmare or  your dream?
