Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out a new update for its users, allowing them to have a smooth and better experience with the ability to allow them to share voice notes on their status. Through a new update on the Google Play Beta Program, lucky beta testers of WhatsApp’s latest 2.23.2.8 version have received the ability to share voice notes via Status updates.
Until now, users could only share text, links, photos and videos to their preferred contacts through the feature. In a blog post on Wednesday, WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, said the feature will offer users the ability to discard a recording before sharing it, as it has been the case with regular voice notes.
Similar to regular WhatsApp messages and the other status updates, the voice notes shared will be end-to-end encrypted, meaning that only the people you choose within your privacy settings can listen to them.
WABetaInfo also said the voice notes will disappear after 24 hours but users also have the ability to delete voice notes for everyone after they have been posted as status updates.
The feature is expected to roll out to more users over the coming weeks.
