A Look Back At The Met Gala;Fashion’s Biggest Night

Written by on May 7, 2019

When it comes to the most over-the-top,grotesque and overtly edgy outfits, look no further than the Met Gala. Famously dubbed the Oscars of Fashion, the Met Ball is one of the most flamboyant Monday nights of year. This is when stars battle it out on the carpet on whose look drops the eyebrows the most,or who pulls the most bizarre look (hey Katy Perry!)

The annual invite-only event has a motiff each year that the attendees stick to. After last year’s controversial Heavenly Bodies x Religion inclined theme,it was hard to think what theme would one-up that. Unsurprisingly, the Met Ball would always pull a stunt on us. This year’s theme was Camp;Notes on Fashion. That could be interpreted in a myriad ways,so it wasn’t exactly surprising that stars donned outfits that were outlandish to the core.

She may not have teased new music or break from her social media hiatus, but Nicki Minaj sure shut it down in pink, perhaps an ode to The Pinkprint and Pink Friday albums?

Remember when Dennis Oliech showed up to Blankets and Wine (when it was all the rave) in a kilt? Odell Beckham Jnr may have plucked a page from his book as this is what he wore to the Met.

Lupita wore about a gazillion colors and could easily pass for a lifesize butterfly.

Jared Leto came with a rather unlikely date in tow..a replica of his own head!

Ciara Ross? CiCi may easily have been the best dressed of the night!

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth flaunting that newly-married glow.

Kimye might as well be the new-age Sonny and Cher. At least according to Kim’s outfit.

The Met Ball is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Proceeds from the glitzy and glamorous night go toward fundraising the museum’s Costume Institute.
