2019’s Biggest Debut Meteors

Nadia Mukami
The young lass was only in campus at Maseno University when she was discovered and signed on by Kaka Empire. In a world of Vivianne and and Avril, she has carved her niche as perhaps the next huge Kenyan female contemporary singer with Coastal accent-laced Swahili. And true to that, she has amassed quite the following and churned a fair number of memorable hits. Her collaborative effort with Arrow Boy earlier in the year has been quite a radio success. The frequent gigs all over the place are a tell-tale sign that she is well booked too.

Nviiri The Storyteller
He is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars to come out of 2019. Introduced to  us as part of Sol Generation (the bright green suit in the video is forever memorable),he has gone from a nondescript singer to a fast rising crooner and with two big solo debuts already. The chillingly anthemic Pombe Sigara, and the  follow-up single Overdose are all sure fire signs that his career is headed for  the skies.

Sailors
After the blatant infiltration of Tanzanian and Nigerian music into the Kenyan scene for years on end,the Gengetone sound could not have come at a better  time. And which better pioneers than this super group. From the high-octane energy performances to the deep Sheng lyrics,to the notoriously addictive  Wamlambez anthem, these young lads owned 2019. Add to that the back to back releases, giving their counterparts a run for their money. They recently just acquired a YouTube channel, bringing to an end the controversy as regards where their music is placed and questions about possible ulterior motives by
supposed management.

Bensoul
Another Sol Generation new kid on the block. This dreadlocked lad rose to stardom after the success of his debut single Lucy, a guitar-intensive feel-good jam. He would later follow it up with Favorite Song, yet another effortless hit that was subject to chart success. Prior to his exponentially blooming solo career, Bensoul wrote songs for artistes like Sauti Sol, and the latter have been in handy in launching his solo career.

Bey T
This young, talented lass has been on a roll. She snagged the chance to be on Mr Eazi’s emPawa,a platform that has been in a quest to illuminate budding artistes. Her song Wololo was a hit with the masses, and her influence has grown tremendously. In a rather unprecedented move,Khaligraph Jones
enlisted her in his latest installment of the hard-hitting cypher,to lots of critical acclaim.

Tanasha Donna
She has had quite a whirwind year. Before rumors of her romantic escapades with now baby daddy Diamond Platnumz ,Tanasha Donna was a budding radio presenter. Then it was clear that the two were an item, and her fame and  popularity went over the roof. Not the kind to let the chance slide by,she hit the booth. Fast forward months later, her first song Radio premiered. The  video has over 1 million views too. While she juggles her newfound duties as a new mom,she is also reportedly working on a new EP.
