A Crumbled Cookie?Empire Set To Grind To A Halt After Season 6

Written by on May 13, 2019

Embattled TV series Empire will not be returning to the screens after its 6th season. The once hit TV show has grappled with reported low ratings lately, and the abrupt exit of a member.

The self-proclaimed cultural phenomenon just wrapped its 5th season a little less than a week ago. Since Jussie Smollett’s controversial ‘attack’ a few months ago,the show has been subject to lots of media attention, mostly as regards supposed wrangles between the cast and production executives about the latter’s decision to guide him toward the exit door.

The upcoming 6th season will feature 20 episodes, but writing has not even begun. Asked if Jussie Smollett will be part of the final season,FOX CEO Charlie Collier maintained that it was not part of the plan. A resounding answer reminiscent of the network’s initial take on his fate on the show after he was infamously accused of staging a hate crime.

Empire premiered in 2015 to wild critical acclaim and massive reception, with catchy soundtracks to boot. Taraji P.Henson and Terrence Howard are among the stars.
