Former Member of Parliament Aden Duale has expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for relocating him from the Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.
In his message, Duale stated that he is prepared to fulfil his responsibilities in his new role by prioritising sustainable environmental management, addressing climate change, and advocating for reforestation and conservation efforts.
“I am grateful to President @WilliamsRuto for reassigning me from the Defence Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.
‘I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring focus is on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts,” Duale said in part.

On July 23, 2024, Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, announced that President William Ruto had communicated the changes to the house.
Cabinet nominee Soipan Tuya has been reassigned to the Defence Ministry, while Aden Duale has been reassigned to the Ministry of Environment.
The names have been referred to the Committee on Appointments, which is expected to vet and present a report on the nominees within 28 days.
President Ruto named the 11 nominees last Friday.
Following the changes, Duale expressed gratitude to the President for reassigning him and mentioned that he looks forward to serving in his new role.
“I look forward to serving in my new portfolio,” Duale said.
The 11 Cabinet nominees now await vetting by the National Assembly.
After the vetting, parliament will take the names of the cabinet nominees to the whole house, which will then approve or reject the nominees.
The Speaker will submit a report to the President if the National Assembly approves any or all of the nominees.
Ruto will then gazette the appointment of the nominees to serve in the cabinet.
After the gazettement, the individuals will take oath of office as Cabinet Secretaries, a position they will serve for the remainder of Ruto’s current term.
