Embarambamba set to release a clean version of “Niko Uchi” song.

Written by on March 28, 2024

Kisii-based singer Embarambamba has informed his fans that he is about to release a cleaned-up version of his song Niko Uchi.

“Coming soon,” he hinted to his online community.

Embarambamba faced criticism and scrutiny from the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) and the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) for allegedly singing indecent songs, particularly within the gospel genre.

He was summoned over what was deemed as ‘vulgar’ content in his music videos.

A snippet of Embarambamba’s upcoming work suggests a departure from his previous controversial style.

We hope to see him fully clothed, unlike in previous videos where he was depicted without clothes, using a towel to cover himself.

However, he still maintains his signature stunts, such as jumping from houses and windows.

On March 4th, Embarambamba had a meeting with KFCB where he was questioned about the alleged use of vulgarity, nudity, indecency, and violent dancing styles in his content.

Following this meeting, he was issued a demand notice to alter his content in accordance with the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.

Subsequently, on March 15th, Embarambamba met with KFCB once again, where he agreed to comply with the laws governing content creation and exhibition.

He also requested an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) following Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya.

Notably, during this meeting, he was accompanied by prominent lawyer Danstan Omari.

This series of events suggests that Embarambamba has faced pressure to modify his artistic content to comply with regulations and standards set by regulatory bodies in Kenya, particularly regarding decency and appropriateness in media content.
