Eminem’s mother, Debbie succumbs to cancer.

Eminen’s mother  Debbie Nelson recently passed away at the age of 69 years after a long battle with cancer.

She was the inspiration behind the rapper’s songs “My Mom” and “Headlights.” Their relationship was strained due to allegations of abuse.

Her death was confirmed by Dennis Dennehy, a spokesperson for the Grammy-winning rapper.

Although she may have been battling cancer for a longer time, Nelson’s cancer first became publicly known in September.

It has been reported that the rapper did not visit his mother in the hospital after her terminal lung cancer diagnosis in September 2024.

A Little History

Eminem rose to fame with the release of “The Slim Shady LP” in February 1999.

This album included the hit song “My Name Is…” which contained lyrics that accused his mother of being a drug addict:

“I just found out my mom does more dope than I do / I told her I’d grow up to be a famous rapper / make a record about doin’ drugs and name it after her.”

This resulted in his mother suing him for defamation.

In 2008, Debbie released her memoir, “My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem,” in which she revealed details about their estranged relationship.

In the book, she discussed their troubled past and alleged that she and her siblings had been abused by their stepfather during her childhood.

Eminem later gained custody of his younger half-brother, Nathan, after Nelson placed him in foster care as a child.

This Comes a Month After Eminem Revealed Some Good News

In October 2024, Eminem announced that he would soon become a grandfather. T

He shared the news that his daughter Hailie Jade, 28, was expecting her first child through a music video for his song “Temporary,” featuring Skylar Grey.

In the video, Jade, who is a musical artist and podcaster, gives her father a blue shirt that reads “Grandpa” on the back.

Eminem, stunned by the news, then holds up a sonogram photo while Jade smiles and laughs at his reaction.

The music video features a montage of childhood home videos of Jade and Eminem, interspersed with footage from her recent wedding to her husband, Evan McClintock.

Eminem dedicates the song to Jade, expressing sentiments about the circle of life with lyrics that convey:

“So Hailie Jade, I wrote this song to help you cope with life when I’m gone.”
