Former TZ president Ali Hassan Mwinyi to be buried in Ugunja.

Retired Tanzanian President Ally Hassan Mwinyi died on Thursday 29th February 2024 aged 98 after succumbing to cancer. He served Tanzania as the second president from 1985 to 1995.
The Tanzanian prime minister Kassim Majaliwa, has announced the burial schedule which will start on Friday at 11 AM.
The body will leave his Mikocheni home to Bakwata mosque in Kinondoni where Sheikh Dr. Abubakar Bin Zuber Bin Ali will lead the Friday prayers according to Islamic religion.
“At 2 PM, the body will leave for the Freedom Stadium and from 2:30 PM there will be prayers from religious leaders and condolences from various leaders, also leaders and citizens will pay their last respect,” said Majaliwa
Adding “At 5:00 pm the body will be moved from Uhuru airport to Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport, at 5:30 pm citizens of Zanzibar and other parts of Unguja will receive it at Abeid Aman Karume International Airport
Mwinyi will be buried on March 1, 2024, at Uganja the Highland of Zanzibar.
Current Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu Hassan announced the death of Mwinyi on Thursday, declaring a seven-day, mourning period.
“On behalf of the Tanzania government, I send my condolences to the family, friends and the people of Tanzania on this big loss,” she said.
