Hansi Flick joins FC Barcelona as head coach.

Hansi Flick, the former coach of Bayern Munich and the German national team, has been appointed as the new head coach of FC Barcelona.

He has signed a two-year contract until June 2026, coinciding with the end of Barca president Joan Laporta’s current mandate.

Flick’s appointment was widely anticipated after he was seen having dinner with Laporta in Barcelona and following discussions with the president and sporting director Deco in London.

Flick’s tenure with the German national team ended after an unsuccessful 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, but prior to that, he achieved significant success with Bayern Munich, winning two league titles, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, and the Club World Cup.

He also served as an assistant to Joachim Low with the German national team for six years.

Barcelona, who finished as runners-up in La Liga last season, will be looking to strengthen the squad while dealing with financial constraints and the need to comply with financial fair play regulations, which may require the sale of key players to finance new signings.
