“I can never pay dowry” Gengetone musician Fathermoh declares.

Written by on December 14, 2023

Gengetone musician Moses Otieno popularly known as Fathermoh, in a joint media interview openly declared that he can’t pay a woman’s dowry.

Dowry in African culture, is considered as a token of appreciation to the bride and her family for preserving herself all through her life.

According to the Gengetone musician, people shouldn’t pay dowry to their loved ones as it isn’t a significant thing in life.

He fiercely stated that he could never pay dowry and if by any chance his girlfriend’s family told him to pay he would walk away and never look back. He would rather give the money to his father to do something with it than give it to the girl’s family.

He said; “Mimi I can never pay dowry, mbona nilipe , mimi ile siku nitaskia nimeenda kwa familia ya dem yangu niambiwe dowry ni hivi na hivi nitamuachanisha hapo nipelekee babangu hiyo pesa.”

The “Kaskie Vibaya” musician continued by declaring that he was the prize to be won not the other way around.

“I am the prize.”

After various judgements from the female journalists, he decided to add that they should both pay the dowry if the lady felt she was the prize.

“Si ni sasa basi tulipane”

Fathermoh also touched on fellow musician Ssaru’s previous claims of wanting a dowry that sums up to 1 billion.

Not wanting to look bad he stated that everyone knew their worth and if one thought they were worth a certain amount then they should go ahead with their plans.

Hinting at the large sum of money Ssaru demanded he said that she made that demand targeting people who wanted her and not everyone.

“Kila mtu anajua worth yake, kama amesema ni 1 billion hiyo ameekea watu wanamtaka hajaekea watu hawamtaki ameekea watu wanamtaka sasa wewe mpatie hiyo 1 billion.”
