Paul Pogba has finally addressed his future as he prepares to return to football in March 2025 after his 18-month doping ban.
Following a tumultuous period that saw his initial four-year suspension reduced, the midfielder has expressed relief and eagerness to get back on the pitch.
Pogba acknowledged ongoing discussions between his representatives and Juventus, where he currently has a contract until 2026.
Despite this, the club is reportedly looking to part ways with the 31-year-old by mutual agreement, with interest from clubs like Marseille emerging.
Former teammate Patrice Evra has been vocal about wanting to see Pogba join Marseille, even promising to contact their sporting director, Medhi Benatia, to advocate for the move.
While Pogba has dismissed Evra’s enthusiasm, saying, “I laugh because he’s Uncle Pat, he said it jokingly,” he did not entirely close the door on a transfer, stating, “Of course, you never know what tomorrow will bring, so never say never.”
Reflecting on his reduced ban, Pogba expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to football, saying, “I was really happy. I hadn’t done anything, why would they give me four years? It’s like I’ve been given another chance. ‘I’ve been given back something that had been taken away from me. It’s a new lease on life. March is tomorrow, it’ll come quickly. And it’s something I can’t wait to do.”
He expressed his eagerness to reignite his passion for the game, seeing the upcoming months as a fresh start.
The French international is set to resume training in January, allowing him to prepare for his long-awaited comeback.
His initial suspension was due to testing positive for DHEA, a banned substance.
However, the ruling clarified that it primarily affects females.
The decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to reduce the ban has been a significant relief for Pogba, who had feared retirement could be looming.
Pogba is determined to overcome the challenges of the past and take advantage of the opportunity to revitalise his career, making it a crucial time for both him and potential clubs interested in his services.
