Kenyan actress Jacky Vike, popularly known as Awinja, will always remember the experience of seeing American R&B superstar Chris Brown perform live.
Brown held two sold-out concerts at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 14 and 15, 2024, drawing record-breaking crowds of over 90,000 enthusiastic fans each night.
What was initially planned as a single performance turned into a two-night spectacle due to overwhelming demand, and Vike was among the electrified audience.
In an interview with fellow actress and radio personality Jackie Nyaminde, better known as Wilbroda, on the Netwalking YouTube show aired on April 5, 2025, Vike struggled to find the words to describe the experience.
“It was unforgettable,” she said, seemingly at a loss for words. “I can’t describe it fully, but if I told you about it, you would have cried. Knowing your character, you would have cried.”
Vike expressed that Chris Brown gave the crowd everything they wanted and more.
He took fans on an emotional and energetic musical journey, performing both his early hits and latest chart-toppers.
“It was so mesmerizing,” she added, “that I even forgot to take out my phone and record. I was completely caught up in the moment. I was supposed to take my phone out, but I just couldn’t.”
Each performance reinforced why Brown is considered a living legend.
“He flew, he performed, he never got tired. And then he sings! Jackie, that was value for money,” she said with admiration.
Although Vike did not reveal exactly which ticket package she purchased, here’s a breakdown of the concert pricing:
– Reserved Seating: R1,000 to R1,480 (Approx. KSh 3,508 – 10,081)
– General Admission Standing: R1,800 (Approx. KSh 5,074)
– VIP Experiences: R2,055 to R5,744 (Approx. KSh 13,997 – 39,124)
– Platinum Viewing Suite Package: R5,995 per person, excluding VAT (Approx. KSh 40,834)
– Diamond VVIP Package: R8,995 per person, excluding VAT (Approx. KSh 61,268)
She praised Brown’s professionalism and showmanship, noting that the concert ended promptly at 10:30 PM. “Let me tell you, everyone left that concert satisfied,” she said.
“He is prompt not like local performers who keep fans waiting and come on stage at 5 AM. He gave us a show and a half.
So many wardrobe changes, and we didn’t get bored once. The DJ kept us entertained in between. The guy is just everything multi-talented.”
For Vike, the concert was more than just a show; it was an emotional high that left a lasting impression.
“When I left South Africa, I didn’t even know what to say. After that, I didn’t even want to go to another event. I thought, ‘I don’t think anything else can top that. It was amazing,” she concluded.
