Kenya thrashes Zimbabwe in a thrilling match.

On Tuesday, Austin Odhiambo played a stellar role for Kenya as the Emerging Stars team positioned themselves as strong contenders for a spot in the semi-finals of the COSAFA Cup in South Africa.

Odhiambo’s outstanding performance saw him outshine the Zimbabwean team, leading Kenya to a 2-0 victory and propelling them to second place in Group B standings.

The Gor Mahia midfielder broke the deadlock in the 54th minute with a sublime finish. From an acute angle, Odhiambo shrugged off his markers to slot into the bottom right corner on the half-turn.

Kenya then boosted their chances of making the semi-final with a second goal, also coming from a Gor Mahia player.

A ball lofted from the defence was met by Benson Omala who poked it home first time for his first goal of the tournament.

The opening half had been subdued with Kenya getting just one opportunity which they failed to capitalise on when Rooney Onyango could not score after a defensive mix-up in the Zimbabwe box.

Ken Odhimabo’s men closed the centre and forced their opponents to use the flanks and they were nearly punished before Amos Wanjala made a great tackle.
