Lacklustre Singles And Futile Attempts At A Comeback;Did Elani’s Career Take A Nosedive?
Written by kingbeestar on April 25, 2019
Remember when Elani were all the rave? When Jana Usiku was the bona fide club banger all over the place?Oh the good ol’days or as it turns out,Elani’s heyday. The trio were on a roll a little less than four years ago with a string of smash hits and growing popularity. So much so that they were pitted against their predecessors,Sauti Sol. 2014 was especially a huge year for them with the subsequent releases of Koo Koo and Milele taking over the charts. Theirs was nothing but a rapid ascent.
Fast forward to latter days and their career seems to have fizzled out to our oblivion. It does not help that attempts at a comeback have evidently not yielded anything to write home about, with a number of lacklustre singles flopping in their tracks. This possibly their many shelved album release dates and lukewarm collabs-they all could be their way of trying to get back at mainstream success. It has obviously not worked out for them. Their last hyped release was Heartbeat but nobody cared about it few days after its debut. If all these indicators are anything to go by,their glory days are so far gone.
Claims of a dysfunctional management have rent the rumour mills for a while now. Still,it is a no-brainer that their career will never be the same. It is a dodgy industry and, unless you are Redsan,a comeback is elusive. Good riddance,Elani! It was good while it lasted.
