Lil Nas X Breaks Mariah And Boyz 2 Men’s Billboard Hot 100 Record

As if all the success he has courted so far is not enough,Lil Nas X has broken another record that is albeit impossible to break: He now has the longest running number one song on the Billboard Hot 100,a record that Mariah Carey and Boyz 2 Men have held for a quarter century with their smash hit One Sweet Day.

It is no mean feat that a once nondescript Atlanta artiste has set an entirely new record,and all that with a debut single. His unprecedented smash hit Old Town Road has now spent 17 weeks on the Hot 100,the longest run ever in the chart history. MiMi and Boyz 2 Men’s 1995 classic record spent 16 weeks at #1 and no other record has one-upped it ever since.

In what may be the most intriguing ascent on the charts,Old Town Road first became a viral hit,but it was not until it made  it to the country charts and consequently got pulled after peaking at #19 that it got catapulted up the charts. Then Billy Ray Cyrus brought his country aura by hopping on the remix,further perpetuating the song’s popularity.
