Loverboy and melodic Jay Melody declares he’s quitting music.

Fast-rising star of Bongo flavour music Sharif Said Juma famously known as Jay Melody recently announced that he would be quitting music.

The musician is loved for his specific genre of songs that never fail to capture one’s soul.

Most people know him as a lover boy because he mostly sings love songs. If you have someone you are trying to impress then his music has got you covered.

In his Instagram stories, Jay Melody announced to his fans the unfortunate news of his departure from music.

He wrote; “ I quit music” accompanied by a praying emoji.

The unexpected announcement has left fans with more questions than answers since the “Puuh” musician didn’t give any follow-up information after his post.

However, fans aren’t convinced that he is giving up on his musical career just as it is starting to pick up again.

They feel like he is clout-chasing and is using the sudden exit as a way to market his news to gain more popularity. 

It may come as a shock to his new fans but this isn’t the first time he has threatened to quit music.

The “Puuh” musician once turned his back on producing and performing music despite how hard he has worked to see his talent come to fruition.

He got into music after three failed attempts to join the Tanzania House of Talent when he randomly signed up for an audition.

Back in 2019, he quit producing music for a year and a half because of financial constraints that followed after the death of his mentor, the late Ruge Mutahaba.

Jay in a previous interview revealed that he struggled to get gigs, paying for studio time and other things after his mentor died.

With his bills uncontrollably piling up, he decided to give up on his dream and go back to being a manual labourer on construction sites.

The 26-year-old’s musical journey began at an early age although he felt he needed to become a successful businessman first as he believed that without connections, he would not get through Tanzania’s music industry.

“People started knowing me as a songwriter first, I have done songs like, Hallelujah, Njiwa for Willy Paul, and Ndata for Nadia Mukami,” he said in a previous interview adding that he did not release the songs himself since he was still young in the industry and he knew they might flop.
