Mainoo shines as the Reds are held to a draw.

With everyone expecting the Red Devils to continue their losing streak, they surprised everyone with a draw against Liverpool.

Memories of last season’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool were still painful and will remain so to all United fans.

While the team still has to score at Anfield since 2018, this was a performance to restore pride to United players.

Erik Ten Hag’s team played a very defensive game against the Reds, each trying to outsmart the other.

Yesterday was the first time this season Liverpool has failed to concede a goal in a game.

The draw with Manchester United cost the team a chance of being on top of the table. Arsenal took that chance and returned to the top after they won 2-0 against Brighton.

The draw gave Manchester a point which has been a tussle to get for the team with their constant losing streak.

Manchester had a really solid chance of winning if it wasn’t for the mistake-free performance they did in the game.

Kobbie Mainoo proved to be the future of Manchester United after he gave the fans and his fellow teammates a sign of encouragement to snatch an un-lucky win.

If a few of his senior colleagues shared his calmness, positivity or diligence, Erik Ten Hag’s position would not be precarious.

The 18-year-old enjoyed an 89 per cent pass accuracy, won four ground duels, completed two out of two long balls, won two tackles and made one interception and a clearance.

Mainoo always has the extra moment that quality players especially midfielders have an outstanding defensive awareness but also an attacking instinct wanting to kick in.

United would have had an easy win if their three attacking players Garnacho, Hojilund and Antony had a good communication strategy. The three players played more like an individual rather than an attacking unit.

To find a Premier League team that has scored fewer than United’s 18 goals this season, you have to go down as far as 15th position which is Crystal Palace.
